Every 2026 trip starts at Tambolaka Airport (TMC) in Southwest Sumba and ends at Waingapu Airport (WGP) in East Sumba, so you book two one-way flights. Flight tickets are not included.

Four things to know before you book flights.

Land at Tambolaka (TMC)

Arrive the day before, or on a flight landing before 12:00 on day 1.

Pickup 11:00–12:00 WITA

At Tambolaka Airport or a hotel in Southwest Sumba; the trip starts at 12:00.

Fly out of Waingapu (WGP)

Umbu Mehang Kunda Airport. The trip ends at 11:00 WITA; a flight the next day is safest.

Flying home on the last day? Choose any available flight, but the itinerary cannot be changed to fit it.

Why two airports

One way across the island.

The route runs one way: it starts near Tambolaka in Southwest Sumba and, after one or two nights there, moves to East Sumba for the rest of the trip, ending at Waingapu Airport on the last morning.

A participant who arrives late at the meeting point and delays the itinerary is deemed to have withdrawn, without a refund, so leave room in your arrival plans.
