Why it matters

Six notes from the trip terms.

Sumba is hot

Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunblock SPF 30โ€“50.

Trekking shoes or sandals

Required: the paths to the waterfalls can be slippery and steep.

A water-resistant daypack

Recommended, with enough changes of clothes.

A hard disk, not a flash drive

Documentation files are copied on day 3 and are usually over 32 GB; a flash drive is too slow.

Telkomsel works well

A good mobile provider in Sumba. Bring a power bank too.

Personal medicines

Required if you have a history of asthma, hypertension, heart disease, acute gastritis, diabetes, epilepsy or sinusitis; consult a doctor first.
